SO YOU’RE WORKING AT YOUR BEST
The work day can move fast and get overwhelming, so treat your mind and try these tips to help you to perform your best. Here are 5 ways you can keep up a healthy relationship with your work and life.
Meditation
Finding just a few minutes to balance your mind during the work day can keep you centered. Some examples of simple meditations include:
- Breathing: recentering yourself through breathing is a simple, but effective, way to do brief meditation practices.
- Stretching: while it may not be the most convenient at work, it’s important to keep blood flowing to keep your brain healthy. Finding a few minutes between calls or at your desk to move each part of your body will help circulate your energy.
- Exercises: check out this website for examples of breathing and meditation exercises for different scenarios, or check out this website for stretching ideas!
Hobbies
Having activities that can take your mind off of work (and maybe even off of a screen!) is important to balancing your mind’s capacity and connecting with yourself and/or other people.
- Knitting/Crocheting: this stimulates the mind and there are lots of free and beginner friendly patterns available online.
- Sudoku: this is something you could even do during the workday to take a five minute brain-break; or right before bed to get your eyes off of a screen as you wind down. There are different levels available online to play for free or there are books available to buy.

Positive Mindset
Finding moments of gratitude throughout the day has been proven to improve your attitude and give you a positive perception of what you’re doing.
- Journaling: finding an empty notebook can open up a space to freely express affirmations, gratitude, and goals (and maybe release some frustrations).
- Guided Journaling: there are countless prompted journals that can help guide you through finding gratitude and positivity throughout your day; and it usually just takes about five minutes!

Small Rewards
Rewarding ourselves can sometimes be hard to do (but usually well-justified!), but rewards can actually be used to invoke motivation.
- Treats: knowing that there is something sweet waiting for you at the end of a series of tasks, or a challenge, can help motivate us to get started or finish out that job.
- Plans: having something that you’re looking forward to can feel like a reward after a long day, so finding ways to look ahead can motivate you to get done what you need to get done.

Uplifting Yourself
Finding small moments to empower yourself and remind yourself of your own strengths helps to decrease stress, build motivation, and improve relationships with other people.
- Make-Over: this doesn’t have to be anything grand, but taking a moment to get a massage, get a manicure, or a haircut can be a nice reminder that you deserve a treat sometimes— and looking and feeling your best can help you to work your best.
- Photoshoot: get into your vibe and get some professional photos done! It can feel good to get yourself together and build your professional portfolio while building your personal confidence.
