What’s your business and how did you get started?
I’ve dedicated my career to advocating for young girls and women navigating life’s transitions. As a licensed psychotherapist and certified life coach, I lead Willsey Connections, a Boston-based platform empowering girls and young women to navigate their life’s journey with resilience and strength.
Drawing from my deep understanding of the challenges young girls and women face—both professionally as a therapist and personally as a parent—I offer tailored support, zeroing in on personal growth and empowerment.
Why I Became a Therapist and Life Coach for Teen Girls & Young Women
My journey into this work began long before my career did. I lost my father when I was a young teen, and although I had a family who loved me, I never had that one adult I felt I could truly turn to—someone who could see me, understand me, and hold space for what I was going through.
Throughout my teen years and young adulthood, I carried the quiet belief that I had to navigate everything on my own. Only much later did I understand how much those feelings came from my own limiting beliefs, shaped by loss and the experiences that followed.
For nearly 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside teen girls and young women exactly where they are—not where the world thinks they should be. My work is grounded in empathy, evidence-based strategies, and a deep commitment to helping young women feel seen, supported, and capable of navigating life’s challenges.
I am profoundly grateful to have been the adult figure I once needed—
- the confidant they can text when they’re overwhelmed,
- the voice that helps them reframe self-doubt,
- the guide who offers tools, resources, and clarity,
- and the champion who believes in them until they learn to believe in themselves.
What is one thing you’re really proud of that you’ve created or accomplished?
I am deeply proud of creating an entire body of work that gives teen girls and young women the kind of emotional support, mentorship, and psychological tools that I never had growing up, and watching it change their lives.
What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner?
It’s creating programs that feel soulful, impactful, and entirely my own and watching them transform lives every day.
What is the boldest thing you’ve ever done in business?
The boldest thing I’ve ever done in business is turning my personal pain into a powerful purpose, and building an entire company around giving teen girls and young women the support I never had.
I used my own story and experiences not as a wound , but as a doorway to help thousands of girls build confidence, resilience, and self-worth.
What’s one thing you’re currently excited about for the future of your business?
I’m beyond excited about expanding my impact by sharing my curriculum so that other therapists, coaches and educators across the country can use the model that I developed to support more teen girls and young women.
For the first time, my 30 years of wisdom, tools, activities, and the Paradigm Shift method won’t be limited to the clients that I personally see, they’ll be multiplied through other professionals who share my mission.
What’s your best business advice you would give to other women?
Trust the wisdom of your own lived experience as it’s your most powerful asset.
Your story, your strength, your perspective, and even the challenges you’ve overcome are not obstacles in business… they’re the exact ingredients that make your work meaningful, magnetic, and uniquely yours.
Build your business around what you believe in, what you stand for, and what you know in your bones to be true.
Surround yourself with people who lift you, honor your work, and share your values.
Set boundaries early and often.
Stay grounded in your mission, even when things feel messy or uncertain.
And most importantly:
Never underestimate the ripple effect of one woman showing up fully as herself.
Your courage gives other women permission to be courageous too.
Your clarity becomes a roadmap they can follow.
Your authenticity becomes your brand.
That is how women build businesses that last, and legacies that matter.
