Join us for today’s feature, Grace Leeka, offering a behind the scenes look at some of what she has done to succeed so far, advice for those starting off, and plans for the future.
What’s your business and how did you get started?
Prettora is an online marketplace where boutiques and brands can sell excess inventory, and where other retailers and shoppers can discover those items at a discount. It’s a way to give great products a second chance instead of letting them sit in a stockroom or go to waste. The idea came from seeing how often small retailers end up with great pieces that just didn’t sell in store. At the same time, other boutiques and shoppers are always looking for unique items at better prices. Prettora was created to connect the two. To help businesses move inventory while making it easier for people to find great products they might not have discovered otherwise.
What is one thing you’re really proud of that you’ve created or accomplished?
One thing I’m really proud of is recognizing a need in the retail industry and having the opportunity to do something about it. Excess inventory is such a common challenge for boutiques and brands, and I feel grateful to be in a position where I can work on building something that might help address it.
What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner?
My favorite thing about being a business owner is getting to turn an idea into something real. It has been so exciting to build something from the ground up and see it slowly turn it into a real platform that connects retailers, brands, and shoppers.
What is the boldest thing you’ve ever done in business?
Honestly, the boldest thing I’ve done is putting my idea out into the world and talking to people about it. When you’re building something that’s important to you, sharing it can feel a little vulnerable. But those conversations have also been the most valuable part of the process.
What’s one thing you’re currently excited about for the future of your business?
I’m really excited to see how Prettora continues to grow. Building relationships and partnerships with boutiques and brands has been one of the most rewarding parts so far, and I’m excited to see how those connections help the platform evolve over time.
What’s your best business advice you would give to other women?
My best advice would be to be bold and trust your ideas. I know we sometimes feel pressure to hold back or wait until something is perfect, but being willing to take chances and put your ideas out there is what sets female founders apart!
