What’s your business and how did you get started?

Volition is my hair salon that I started after managing a salon for 11 years. I wanted to have a hair salon that provided a more educated and suggested feel, with a luxury relaxed atmosphere.

What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner

My favorite part about being a business owner is having the ability to help out my community and provide a safe, fun work atmosphere.

What keeps you motivated in the midst of challenges?

My staff! I’m always looking at ways that I can better the business for them.

Tell us about your morning or evening routine.

In the mornings I try to stick to a routine that keeps consistency for me and my children. We wake up and we take a half hour of self time to start the day. After that we get dressed and have a light breakfast. They head off to school and I head off to get coffee and get to the salon.      

What’s one thing you’re currently working toward or expected growth for the future?

I am working towards building my community presence and networking. I love collaborating with other women owned businesses and watching everyone grow together.       

What’s your best business advice you give to other women?

The best business advice I could give is the meaning behind my salons name, Volition, the power of one’s free will. Only we are responsible for our success. Have a mindset that is focused on the future you want, believe it can happen, and so it will.
