Coaching Corner: Rosaleen Doherty

My purpose in coaching is to offer people, women especially, a highly seasoned coach and entrepreneur to help them transform their business or start their business with clarity and expert support. I get extremely jazzed for 1 to 1 six month coaching containers because with that amount of time, clients can have big wins.

Why did you get into coaching?

I have owned my own business for over 20 years. I grew it from nothing to an 8-figure business. This has been amazing for me and my family, however I found that throughout my career I would meet other female business people who struggled because they did not have mentors with experience to help them get to their best place. In working with teams and individuals for so long and being inspired by their personal growth, I made a decision to share my skills to support others in a meaningful way.

What’s your favorite part about what you do?

My favorite part about coaching 1 to 1 is the breakthroughs my clients get. We are working on serious goals, but once you start working with what is blocking them from that goal (and probably their other goals), then comes the personal transformation.

What’s the best transformation you’ve seen lately in a client?

One of my latest clients was a woman in her thirties who had a great track record in the tech industry. She was pregnant, had a small child and she was feeling really “stuck” in her life – including her position at work. We worked together on a plan where she could transform her tech position slowly, make room for her new baby in her life, and satisfy her deep desire to be creative. It is so gratifying to see someone free themselves up! The work we did together made her feel better about work, it cleared her mindset as she moved through her pregnancy and it set her up with possibilities and strategy at work versus the stuck feeling many women feel.

If you could share a word of wisdom with another woman in business, what would it be?

It is your life – Play Big!

Tell us a little more about yourself and your background?

I was in tech during the Dot Com era as a national salesperson and manager. I had a very successful career traveling everywhere and really working with the “boys club”. In my personal life, I got married and had two kids while keeping my high achievement/high stress job. After 9/11, I decided that I didn’t want the corporate life that I had and I didn’t want to travel far from my kids, so I started a local healthcare business with my husband. For over 20 years, I have grown it to multiple locations and states. We have over 300 employees. As a successful business person, mother, wife and now elder caregiver, I know it is hard to manage all our roles and achieve. I am so humbled to be able to mentor women from a place of experience and learning. This is the next step in my career.

What’s your favorite way to start the day?

I am a certified meditation guide. I use this as a tool with some of my clients, but I know meditation is absolutely the best way to get this busy mind into great shape for the day.
